When breakfree approached us, they were seeking a bold and unique brand identity for their skincare company, aimed at making a significant impact in the market. Their flagship product—a high-quality acne patch—was designed to target acne with precision, using advanced formulations for both preventative and post-acne care. The innovative patch features microspikes that effectively deliver ingredients to speed up and enhance the healing process, setting it apart from other products in the market.

The Founder’s Story and Its Impact on Branding

Our collaboration began with an in-depth brand workshop where we explored the founder's personal journey. Originating from Lebanon, where acne is heavily stigmatized and acne patches are scarce compared to their popularity in Korea, the founder's mission was to normalize acne as a common experience rather than a problem. This deep-rooted desire to shift the narrative and promote self-acceptance became the driving force behind the creation of this skincare brand.

Our strategic approach for Breakfree Skincare centered on reshaping the narrative around acne care. Instead of presenting the flagship acne patch as a "cure"—which implies that acne is a problem to be fixed—we aimed to position Breakfree as a supportive and compassionate brand. We wanted to convey that acne is a normal part of life and nothing to be ashamed of. Our goal was to establish Breakfree Skincare as a friendly resource offering guidance on how to care for and heal your skin with empathy and kindness.

Creating a Brand Identity Focused on Self-Love and Inclusivity
